My starting point for this Womenswear project is my grandfather's studio, My grandfather was a tailor by profession who learned the trade at the age of 13 from an Italian family, opened a private studio in Casablanca and at the same time worked for several large factories as well, immigrated to Israel in 1963. As a child, I grew up in studio at Nanchalat Binyamin's until he closed it in 2003. Although I didn't get to learn tailoring from him, I still have his scissors, a sewing machine, and a lot of jackets that he sewed. At the beginning of the project I chose his jacket for inspiration, I did the work with the jacket through deconstruction and new connections in computer software. The choice to give a new interpretation to the classic jacket was created by working on the cut, and the new silhouette. For the fabrics, I chose to use high-quality wool in order to keep the classics of the tailored jacket, and to play with the connections of the stripes in a new and unique way.
